Are Blogger Journalist?

What is a Journalist?

Journalists have a desire to seek out the truth, and share it with others. They make sacrifices — personal, financial and otherwise — to get the truth because they care that much about reporting it.
The primary concern of journalists is not financial profit; it is telling the truth. That’s why readers can trust journalists to report what is happening, no matter who is involved.

Journalists care about their communities, world events, and people. They question authority, ask the hard questions and report the difficult and sometimes unpopular facts.

Journalists are objective and report both sides, regardless of their personal feelings. They dedicate their lives to helping everyone else live better.

What is a Blogger?

A blogger is someone who blogs, or writes content for a blog. So, what is a blog?
A blog originally came from the word “weblog” or a “web log”. A blog is a collection of content that is organized repetitively. This content can take the form of basic words (copy) as well as rich media (audio, video, and embeddable objects). A blog typically focuses on a particular subject matter for clarity, focus, and can be built by hand, manually through writing the post, uploading to a website via FTP, and then publishing.
Blog can also defined as a frequent, chronological publication of personal thoughts and Web links.

This video shows us about how bloggers and the readers becoming more more, and many more.
Why?
People always seeking for news everyday. At this point, blogger can be the news provider for the readers. When people know that they can see more news from one media, they'll keep seeking on that media, as long as the news suits they thought and they can find what they want to know. That's why there's a lot of blog which provide us information about whats happening around the world. basically, people use blog as a life journal or diary, but, because of this reason, bloggers becoming more informative. Nowadays, there are a lot of blogger who claim theirself as a journalist.

Are blogger journalist?

NO! A blogger can be someone who post their thought about some event around the world, but they're not a journalist. For the most part, blogging is not journalism. That’s my response to the longstanding debate about whether bloggers are journalists. Bloggers who don’t apply good standards of journalism shouldn’t be offered the same privileges as journalists. Similarly, journalists who fail to apply the same good standards should be stripped of privileges and prestige.
The basic principle is this: There are at least two sides to any story, usually more. Real journalists present all sides of a story, using multiple sources for balance and doing original reporting wherever possible. A quick survey of blogs reveals that many bloggers reporting news generally offer one side of the story. This one-sided difference is partly responsible for the Web being polluted by gossip, rumor and innuendo posing as news.

  1. I agree with Risa that Bloggers are not journalist. Journalist have some standards and code ethics that they have to keep while bloggers can simply write anything they want

  2. I agree with Risa, "she said, NO! A blogger can be someone who post their thought about some event around the world, but they're not a journalist. For the most part, blogging is not journalism" Yes, because the blogger just write, they don't have ability to be journalist.
